WHERE IS WYATT ERP?

The Calvery has arrived in the historic Palace Saloon!

We arrived in Prescott today.  We went to the courthouse square. At one time, it was the capitol of Arizona and is home of the largest continuous rodeo in the USA .  Then we ate at the Palace, the oldest saloon in Arizona where Wyatt Earp gambled and drank.  Huge, huge place and guys dressed as the Calvary. Left and went to Jerome, a ghost town for the Art Walk.  Free wine, champagne, music and food at all the galleries.  It is an old artist colony up in the mountains.

THE HIKE OF DEATH THEN WINE

Thursday, Sept. 2. OK, we did a moderate, not easy hike at Airport Mesa and took the Brewer Trail. Brewer, because that is the area I live at for now. Very hot and difficult.  Dumb me, didn't take water. A real no-no. But, we survived!  BEAUTIFUL!!!
On to wine drinking at Pillsbury Winery and Stronghold Tasting Rooms, both in Old Cottonwood.  Fun time and good wines. Some new reds and dry whites with fruit forward. Met a wine girl who just came back from Fiji and was in the Peace Corp for 2 years. Wine Guy at Stronghold was just at Cedar Point with his buddies. . .  Go figure.
Dinner at Nic's Italian Steak and Crab House, right next door. Old Cottonwood is just that, OLD.  Interesting people and places.

YOGA FLOW WITH GAYLE AND AN INVITATION

7am class at Los Abrigados Spa with Gayle. Yoga flow level 2 class had me sweating with lots of down dogs and many, too many, push ups.  Jacuzzi afterwards.  Found out the resort was sold yesterday and some of the staff was cut.  Oh, thank God I don't work at a resort any longer. I remember those days of cuts and changes. What a great class!

Gayle's family owns Page Spring Cellars and I got at invitation to the 5th Annual Harvest Festival with music, wine, & food this Sunday.  We will be in Winslow, though,  at La Posada (check out the link).http://www.laposada.org/

ARRIVAL IN SEDONA

Daryl & left Cleveland at 10am, had a layover in Chicago and arrived in Phoenix at 1:15 Phoenix time (3:15 Ohio time).  It was 98 degrees, sunny and wonderful.  You first notice the 20 foot cactus on the highways that change to evergreens as we progress to higher elevations. Truck were going 10 miles per hour up the mountains. We stopped at Dara Thai Cafe for wonderful thia food that was way spicy!!  It was across from one of  Del Web's retirement communities.  Oh, if I could retire like those people, let me tell you  . . .  We spotted 2 roadrunners but no coyotes!  Beautiful scenery through Prescott National Forest and then to coconino National Forest in Sedona.

Had a great meal at HeartlineCafe in Sedona outside on their patio.  I had the pecan crusted trout and Daryl had the pork chops, of course.  Wonderful meals.  Used our restaurant.com $25 certificate that I paid $3 for the week before!  Nice bottle of riesling from Italy.  Shopped at Safeway for groceries and got our health club passes at Los Abrigados Resort, where we have stayed before.  Health Club in the morning.

The house is so, so cute and we are next door to the owners.  Now, there house is fabulous and their view of the mountains is unbelievable!  They are out of town and we will meet them tomorrow.  Daryl sleeps as I blog.  He is one tired puppy. . .
